I am going to email weekly bulletins and alternate each week, in terms of the emphasis. Week B will have a special focus on UCAS and Week A will have a special focus on apprenticeships and alternatives
The Big Event - this week. … Thursday 25th / Friday 26th
'Going To Uni Fair’ in place of the annual UCAS Fair - Thursday 25th and Friday 26th June.
The sessions are split over two days and each subject session will include a generic presentation aimed to help students decide which course to study at University. They will also be running presentations on Student Finance, UCAS & Personal Statements and student ambassadors will be on hand all morning to answer any student focused questions. Virtual Career chats … Thursday 25th
As part of your Futures programme Mrs Saward has arranged a Virtual Careers Chat on Thursday 25th June and you are all invited!
The Virtual Career Chats will take place from 4pm and will take around 45 minutes, finishing at around 5pm. You will be meeting volunteers from the world of work, hearing about their jobs and being provided with the opportunity to ask follow up questions. Rosie and Derrick from Inspiring the Future will be leading the session, which will follow the below format:
1. 4pm- Intro teacher and volunteers
2. Students join at 4.15pm- Welcome from Inspiring the Future
3. Teacher introduction
4. Volunteer ‘chats’
5. Questions from students
6. Reflection and thank you- 5:00pm
Mrs Saward will be present for the entirety of the session and will give a short welcome when you join. Also note:
• Students will be muted throughout the session.
• Students cameras will be turned off throughout the session.
• Students can ask questions by typing into the “chat” box
• There will be “polls” which are interactive questions which appear on the screen and students just select an answer from the poll.
On Tuesday Mrs Saward will send you the detailed joining instructions. The platform used is ‘Go To Webinar’ but you won’t need to download anything. You will simply get a link to click on and you will be asked to enter your first name only.
