Examination Board Contingency Day 2019

Examination Board Contingency Day – Wednesday 26th June 2019

Please be aware of the important information which affects all students taking examinations during summer 2019.

The examination awarding bodies for all GCSE and A level examinations have implemented a contingency day, should sustained national or local disruption arise during the summer examination series.

This decision comes following the tragic events of summer 2017, namely the Manchester attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire. The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) have decided that they need the option to postpone an exam in the event of an incident and rearrange for a later date to allow all students a fair and equal chance.

The date that has been set aside for contingency purposes is Wednesday 26th June 2019. This means that all exam candidates must be available to attend school on Wednesday 26th June 2019, if called upon by the examination boards.

This decision is not a school decision and applies to all candidates in all schools.
