If you’re considering a career in mathematics or have a passion for the subject then this could be the course for you.
Who is it for?
Very able mathematicians with a desire to extend their mathematics beyond the scope of the A Level course.
In addition to the general entrance requirements, the department requires at least grade 7 at GCSE mathematics.
- A variety of challenging topics including:
- Complex numbers
- The Structure of Mathematics
- Differential equations
- Discrete mathematics
- And many applied units
Approximately five hours classwork, plus a minimum of five hours homework.
Three modules will be taken in June of both Year 12 and Year 13.
It will be very helpful, for some modules, to own a graphic calculator.
Mathematics at this level is highly recommended for courses in higher education in the field of mathematics. It is also supportive of physical sciences.
