TEXTILES AS/A2*
This is a very interesting and varied
course which has much to offer. Textiles
provides wide opportunities ranging from fashion and aesthetics to industrial
uses of textiles, and from creative and individual work to aspects of
manufacturing and industrial and commercial practice. As
part of the course, you will be given the opportunity to partake in trips such
as The Clothes Show Live in Birmingham and the Knitting and Stitching Show at
Alexandra Palace.

TRAVEL
AND TOURISM: BTEC FIRST DIPLOMA*
This
course is for students who have an interest in travel and tourism and the
industry surrounding them. A BTEC First
Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs
grades A*– C and is a full-time one year course. The
course comprises three core units that everyone takes and three
specialist units. The specialist units
enable you to study particular areas in more depth. BTEC First Diploma prepares you for employment. In addition, a Merit or Distinction provides
a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as AS Travel and
Tourism.
TRAVEL
AND TOURISM: BTEC NATIONAL CERTIFICATE*
A
BTEC National Certificate is a
practical, work-related course. It is equivalent to two A Levels and is taken
as a full-time, two year course. Students who have an interest in, and
commitment to the travel and tourism industry will enjoy this subject. You will learn by completing projects and
assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and
demands. The course introduces you to
particular areas of employment and provides a good basis to progress to
advanced work-related qualifications.
You will study four core units: Investigating Travel and Tourism, The
Business of Travel and Tourism, The UK as a Destination, and Customer Service
in Travel and Tourism. You will also
study eight specialist units that will develop your knowledge, skills and
understanding.
