BRIEF DETAILS FOR SOCIOLOGY AND SPANISH

SOCIOLOGY AS/A2
Sociology is the academic study of
society, social relationships and individuals.
It covers a range of social issues such as inequality, changes in
education, the influence of the media, crime and deviance. There is plenty of theory and written work,
but opportunities for discussion and practical investigations too. It certainly enables students to make sense
of the world around them.

SPANISH AS/A2
During the two year course, students
will cover a wide variety of contemporary topics related to both Spain and Latin America. In class, the aim is to enable students to
express themselves clearly and fluently.
They will also be developing their comprehension skills to an advanced
level. There will be a strong focus on
increasing students’ awareness and knowledge of the Hispanic world. Materials are taken from authentic sources
such as newspapers, magazines and audio-visual sources. Students are encouraged
to use the Internet for the most up-to-date material. There is also the opportunity to read modern
texts in greater depth.
