MEDIA FILM STUDIES AS/A2

 

This course will be of interest to any students following post-16 courses, whether they are specialists in the humanities or sciences.  You will look at the role film plays in their own lives on a daily basis, and will have the opportunity to develop your interests and competencies in media.  There is a strong emphasis on communication and self-reflection.  You will acquire knowledge and understanding about producers & audiences, British cinema & its values, and world cinema.  You will develop a critical understanding of the options available to filmmakers in their creative decision–making and you will also plan, produce and evaluate your own media products.

MEDIA PRODUCTION: AS/A2 VOCATIONAL

 

This qualification is an introduction to the medium of moving image production in an applied context, which allows students to develop an understanding of this media sector.  Two of the units in Year 12 involve practical productions and one is theory based.  They are all coursework assessed.  The three units that comprise A2 cover every aspect of a moving image production, from planning to making and evaluating.  All three units are coursework assessed.

MEDIA (Moving Image) BTEC NATIONAL DIPLOMA (Triple A Level Award)

 

The BTEC National Diploma is the equivalent of three A Levels.  Students will complete compulsory units including research techniques, TV and film editing techniques, and professional practice in the media industry.  In addition, students will select units on a variety of topics such as single camera dramas, studio production techniques, corporate and promotional videos and animation.  This is an exciting, highly specialised course that will provide the knowledge, understanding and skills for those students wishing to enter a career in the media or progress to higher education in this area.
