ECONOMICS AS/A2
Economics is a demanding course which involves
the study of how firms, governments and individuals use all the resources
available to make goods and services which satisfy their needs and wants. In doing this, it is necessary to assess some
of the problems which arise from these activities. This involves an examination of
externalities, inflation, unemployment, government policy, taxation,
international trade, poverty and the operation of firms and markets. It will benefit anyone who has, or who wants to
have, an interest in how the world is the way it is.

ELECTRONICS AS/A2*
This
course is suitable for those students looking for a career in an electronics
related area or who just have an interest in electronics. A grade B at GCSE double science is required
to start the course. Assessment is by
two written examination papers at the end of the course, and three design-and-build
activities. This subject goes especially
well with physics and, like physics, is very highly regarded by universities
and employers.

ENVIRONMENTAL
SCIENCE
We
envisage the course appealing to those with a clear interest in environmental
issues. The overlap with geography and biology would be complementary for
students who also wish to study either, or both, of these subjects at AS
Level. Environmental studies explores a
range of issues of environmental importance and the scientific principles and
concepts that underpin them. These include topics such as global climate
change, environmental pollution, sustainability and wildlife conservation. The
emphasis of the course is to develop scientific understanding that then allows
students to make informed judgements on matters of actual or potential
environmental conflict* Subject to demand
