SIXTH FORM ADMISSIONS POLICY

All students will be expected to have appropriate qualifications and capability for the course that they wish to follow.

Students wishing to embark on Advanced courses should have either a minimum of seven GCSE passes at Grade C or above OR at least ten points based upon GCSE grades as follows: A*/A – 5pts, B – 3pts, C – 1pt.  It is expected that both the above options will include Mathematics and English at Grade C or better.  Some AS Level courses also have specific subject and grade requirements.   For all other courses there is no formal academic entrance requirement.

Where a student has not met the overall entrance requirements but has specific aptitudes and/or talents, a personalised timetable may, in certain circumstances, be available.  For further clarification, please contact the Director of Sixth Form Studies.

A key deciding factor in determining acceptance will be each student’s past record in terms of motivation, behaviour, attendance and relationships with staff.  References will be requested for external students from their present schools.

Students will be expected to have a clear reason for wanting to continue study, to have appropriate objectives and high personal aspirations.

Acceptance into a course of study is always conditional upon the viability of the course.
