PROMOTING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE FOR ALL
In recognition of Sharnbrook Upper Schools finest
ever athlete; Paula Radcliffe, we are please to honour her achievements by
naming this Community Sports Centre after her.
Originally conceived to
promote sport and help develop future World Class Athletes, through improved
curricular and extra curricular activities within the school, the scope of the
Sports Centre has grown to provide a sports hub for the wider local community
of Rural North Bedfordshire.
The Sports Centre, officially opened by Paula
Radcliffe on Sunday 24th April 2005, boasts a Fitness Studio
equipped with state-of-the-art Technogym workstations, an Air Conditioned
Aerobics Studio, and Multi Function Sports Hall, along with well appointed
Members and Team Changing Rooms.
All facilities are available for use by the
wider community 7 days a week, in partnership with the schools curriculum
activities. All facilities are open from
0700 until 2200 Monday to Friday, and 0900 until 1700 at Weekends and on Bank
Holidays.
Other activities that are available to be
accommodated within the Sports Centre include five-a-side football, badminton,
basketball and volleyball within the Sports Hall; various fitness classes and
martial arts within the Aerobics Studio; meetings within the Function Room;
plus the Sports Centre also has a Floodlit Hard Court Area for tennis, netball
and football training. There is also the
opportunity to relax in one of our Saunas after a workout.
This project has kindly been supported by the
Big Lottery Fund, The Bedford Charity (The Harpur Trust) and SUSA, in conjunction with the School and
Board of Governors.
