STUDENT SERVICES

Six years ago, we reorganised our pastoral system from Year groups into Vertical House groups; in the process, we took the opportunity to reduce the tutor group size from 30 students to around 20.  This was achieved by various means but, most successfully, by the use of support staff as personal tutors.

At the same time, we removed the traditional Head of Year role and the multiple responsibilities they carried and developed a much more professional and skilful role for a range of para-professionals.

We now have a number of highly trained support staff who are able to meet with students and their families where appropriate, who have the time and the knowledge to meet the needs of our students.

The range of services are described in the following sub-sections but are so varied and constantly changing that it is difficult to give more than just a snap-shot of their work.
