Welcome to the Media, Dance and Drama Curriculum Area page.

Dance

Dance takes a high profile at Sharnbrook Upper School with excellent grades seen at all levels.  Students have the opportunity to take part in technique classes, extra-curricular dance clubs and Gifted and Talented sessions, under the umbrella of the Innovations Dance Company.  Dance leadership is promoted at all levels from Year 9 all the way through to 6th form level where students lead dance clubs at feeder lower and middle schools.  Facilities are excellent with two dance studios and a hall utilised for lessons.

Media

The Media department offers a wide range of courses, from Year 9 through to Year 13.  At GCSE there are 2 options and at ‘AS’ and ‘A2’ there are 3 options to choose from.

We are a large and successful department with 11 members of staff, over 20 semi-professional cameras and over 20 edit suites, which have professional editing software. All students have access to their own camera and edit suite every lesson.  Our GCSE results are outstanding, being higher every year than the overall school average and, at ‘A’ level, our results are staggering. We can certainly promise to bring out the very best in any student who chooses one of our many courses.

We have a studio, from which there are weekly broadcasts and it is also a valuable resource for our students when they are filming. There is also a professional radio station. We have great success at several of the national film festivals, where many of our students get to see their films on the big screen. We run several day trips for various courses, a weekend filming trip for Sixth Form students and our own annual Film Festival.
