ICT

The IT Department is fortunate to have six specialist IT teachers delivering a total of five courses.  We have state of the art hardware and software to support learning, with curriculum computers that are, at the most, twelve months old.  The school network runs Windows Vista Operating System with Microsoft Office 2007 and the Adobe Creative Suite available on every machine.  In addition to access to six dedicated IT Suites, we also have a hardware lab where students can learn all about the insides of computers!  Our online services are impressive, each student has an email account and remote access to the network from home.  Our core ECDL delivery is supported online by Third Force products; Autotrack, Diagnostic Test and Autotest. 

All students in Years 9, 10 and 11 follow the internationally recognised ECDL suite of qualifications. (ECDL, ECDL Essentials and ECDL Extra).  ECDL Extra is accredited to 42 GCSE points (grade B equivalent).

Year 10 and 11 students can opt to follow the BTEC First Certificate in ICT Practitioners.

Sixth Form students can choose from three courses; BTEC National Award for IT Practitioners, Applied “A” Level ICT and “A” Level Computing
