Specialisms: Media Arts & Teaching School
"Inspectors observed excellent teaching in a number of subject areas, the students' attitudes to learning and their relationship with staff were outstanding."*
We set high academic standards and support pupils in realising their potential. We spark intellectual curiosity and encourage in students a love of learning. Sharnbrook is a school where it is cool to succeed and pupils regularly achieve some of the best exam results in the county.
There is more to school life than examination grades and we develop children in the round. There is a strong emphasis on sport, music, drama and art and across the 12-19 range pupils benefit from a high quality and diverse programme of clubs and societies. It is through extra-curricular activity that pupils keep their academic work in perspective, develop life-long hobbies and gain teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Sharnbrook Sixth Form is Bedford’s leading provider of A levels and BTEC courses. With a choice of over 40 advanced level options, specialist teaching and fantastic facilities, Sharnbrook Sixth gives all its students the perfect springboard to university and great careers.
Sharnbrook Sixth’s course range is extremely wide with A levels and BTEC options. Students are able to put together a programme which exactly matches their interests and future needs.
Whether you wish to keep your curriculum broad or specialise in Performance, Art, Medicine, Engineering, Business, Science or Sport, we have the subjects for you. We can support those subjects with Latin and Philosophy, Languages, Work experience and Volunteering opportunities. The only limitations are your ambitions!

Pilgrim Learning (previously the Lincroft & Sharnbrook Teaching School Alliance) is developing partnerships and relationships with other schools, universities, providers and businesses. This will ensure that there is capacity to support schools, to collaborate on delivery of provision in developing high quality Teaching and Learning and to drive school improvement.

Who are we?
Both Lincroft and Sharnbrook schools achieved Teaching School status from the National College in April 2012 and are working together to enable the Teaching School remit move forward. Both schools are part of the larger Sharnbrook Academy Federation (formally the Academy Federation of North Bedfordshire Schools). This collaborative, hard federation between three middle schools and the upper school is one of the many strengths with which to enhance the learning and achievement of the students and the staff. Lincroft and Sharnbrook were also founder members of the North Bedfordshire Schools Trust, which was originally one of the largest Trusts nationally. The Teaching School changed its name to PILGRIM LEARNING in April 2013 to become the training arm of the Pilgrim Learning Trust.
What we will achieve
As a Teaching School our aims are to:
Support schools, and schools within our own Alliance to continue to raise standards ensuring that all staff and students are given the opportunity to achieve their best. This will be achieved by:
• Being flexible and adaptable in our approach and delivery giving variety and choice
• Ensuring that relevant, high quality, local, value for money support and training is offered
• Our ability to listen to and advise, develop and challenge staff and schools
This will be managed through:
• Developing partnerships with other schools, universities, education providers and businesses to offer diverse and challenging opportunities
• Offering school to school support through system leadership and bespoke training and development
• Offering nationally recognised and accredited leadership training programmes and appropriate high quality CPD for all staff
• Recruitment of high quality graduates to train in our schools and offering the enriched training environment required
• identifying those with the potential to become school leaders and give them the opportunity to develop through the modular leadership curriculum
• Continuing to research and develop relevant areas of focus to ensure that staff are fully aware progress and potential to achieve to the highest degree
